Farm Gone Weekend

Weekends on the farm go by far too quick! With my husband in sales sometimes he’s working Saturday’s and me managing a florist some weekends I’m booked with weddings. Winter for me is a little quieter, but for the both us there is still no shortage of work to be done around the farm.

Today I spent the day cleaning the house which still is of course no where near done. Gemma was not about naps today, as she’s cutting her 7th tooth at 8 months old (Crazy I know apparently it runs in my family). Tyler spent the day in our “shop” getting it in order for farming season, which is just around the corner.

I looked up at our silos the few times I popped outside with the dogs and bundled up Gemma to check out what Tyler was doing. They always give me the little peace of mind. That deep sigh that release ll your worries away. However, today they just made me wish they would start greening up with ivy for spring.

The farm is going to be very different this spring having little feet running around. I feel Gemma will be quite the little helper with her love of animals already. Gemma as I’ve mentioned before is the 5th generation on Tyler’s family farm, so she has very big shoes to fill.

Watching that little learning and ready to explore mind on a farm will truly be a remarkable journey. I did not get to grow up on a farm. I only had the many stories my dad told me from working on farms. I had many house pets though, as I wanted to be a vet. When we finally moved to the country and I finally was able to have my first “farm” animals I knew there was no going back to not having farm animals ever again.

It’s not for everyone but it is a great way to grow up that I hope Gemma will enjoy. For right now though she is happy to see all of her animals from a distance. However she rather enjoys her puppy’s and kitties inside that love to hang out with her.

I truly just hope these weekends start slowing down, so we can enjoy these little moments with her as she continues to grow.
